Program Standards
All Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh libraries will be:
- Fully accessible for all persons
- Meet sustainable design guidelines
- Provide excellent lighting including natural light
- Connect to the residents and neighborhoods using design and programs
- Provide the best and up to date 21st century spaces
- Allow for flexibility for the future
Spaces to be planned for:
- Children’s Area
- Teen Area
- Adult Space
- Public computers
- Toilet Rooms for customers and families
- Customer service desk area
- Staff spaces for working, storage, and eating lunch
The community will help decide about:
- Meeting room spaces
- Study Seating
- Comfortable Seating
- Self check out machines
- Photocopier
- Community bulletin board and information area
- Exhibition and display space
CLP will:
- Use the Design Guidelines as set forth for Centre Avenue
- Work closely with Find the Rivers
- Talk with the community about their ideas and suggestions for a new library in the Hill!
