Program Standards

All Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh libraries will be:

• Fully accessible for all persons
• Meet sustainable design guidelines
• Provide excellent lighting including natural light
• Connect to the residents and neighborhoods using design and programs
• Provide the best and up to date 21st century spaces
• Allow for flexibility for the future

Spaces to be planned for:

• Children’s Area
• Teen Area
• Adult Space
• Public computers
• Toilet Rooms for customers and families
• Customer service desk area
• Staff spaces for working, storage, and eating lunch

The community will help decide about:

• Meeting room spaces
• Study Seating
• Comfortable Seating
• Self check out machines
• Photocopier
• Community bulletin board and information area
• Exhibition and display space

CLP will:

• Use the Design Guidelines as set forth for Centre Avenue
• Work closely with Find the Rivers
• Talk with the community about their ideas and suggestions for a new library in the Hill!
