Take action now to protect library funding!

Governor Tom Corbett's 2012-13 budget proposes to reduce library funding by an additional 5%. Since 2008, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has lost over $1.3 million in state aid. During this time, demand for library services across the state has increased as the recession deepened. Over the past four years, library usage rose including the number of visits to libraries, attendance at programs, lending of books and DVDs, in-the-library and online computer searches, and reference questions answered. Increasingly, libraries have emerged as vibrant community centers as well as indispensible access points for people searching for jobs and job training.

Please contact Governor Corbett and your state senator and state representative today and urge them to maintain library funding at 2011-2012 levels so that libraries can strive yet again to meet increased demand and continue to provide the best quality services possible.
